To apply for a grant, you must be a legal Georgia resident and have either an official physician’s letter or hospital record verifying a diagnosis of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI).
Central Registry
The Central Registry is a report of Georgians who have sustained a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury in a given year.

“The Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission is Georgia’s only state agency that offers dedicated funding and support for individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury. The Commission’s mission is to distribute much needed resources to eligible Georgia residents via direct grants for their post-acute care and rehabilitation."

RE: NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF AMENDMENTS TO DISTRIBUTION POLICIES OF THE BRAIN AND SPINAL INJURY TRUST FUND COMMISSION
EFFECTIVE July 1, 2025

Notice is hereby given to all interested parties that the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission, a Commission of the State of Georgia, has amended its DISTRIBUTION POLICIES, to become effective July 1, 2025, and voted to approve the final revision at its meeting on May 22, 2025. Comments from the public will be considered and accepted for 30 days beginning May 27, 2025. Comments can be made by emailing [email protected] or by calling 1-888-233-5760 or mail to:

These policies were initially adopted July 9, 2002, and last amended on July 1, 2023. The most recent revisions made to the policies are outlined below. These policies relate to distributions from the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund, as authorized by Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Section 15-21-140, et seq. (as amended in 2002, Act No. 748 (S.B. 364)).
Summary of Amendments:
The cap for modified vehicle grants is increased to $20,000 from $18,000 the increase is not retroactive to grant applications received or funded prior to July 1, 2025.
The cap for vehicle modification grants is increased to $20,000 from $18,000 – the increase is not retroactive to grant applications received or funded prior to July 1, 2025.
Computers will be moved to the Assistive Technology category and subject to that category's requirements.
Grant funds that are partially spent will, after two years of no activity, be rescinded by the Commission.
